"No amount of money could have paid for the fantastic service I got"

Last August I was shifted into the Regional with severe blood poisoning from an infected replacement hip-and-the treatment I received was of a quality higher than first class.

The nurses were brilliant, professional with great bedside manners and willing to accommodate any reasonable requests to make me as comfortable as possible. The doctors gave me every possible chance to recover with their expertise and knowledge. Their follow-up checks were planned and executed to make my recovery as rapid and painless as was humanly possible. The ward staff always answered the alarms with the greatest of haste and were most obliging in the middle of the night in rearranging me in my bed to make me comfortable and warm.

The staff and medical teams have done wonders to make my recovery turn out as it has but it is the politician who have strangled the system by withdrawing funds, freezing staffing levels and closing wards because the staffing levels are too low. THAT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE. Till the day I die I will defend and praise the staff of the Limerick Regional and the Ennis hospital and Ambulance service. How they can go to work each day and do the splendid job they do-God knows.
