Before I went to Hospital {Admission unit SLMHS}, I was very supported by Joanne, Louise and Ruth.

Dr Lally and Joanne seen me at home and said they had a bed for me in hospital. I was terrified. The staff in the hospital were lovely to me and even brought me for walks. I got to see a doctor every day there. Im finding it difficult to part in my recovery but I hope to get better.

I like going to Liscarney Day Hospital because ive met other people who have been in hospital in a similar situation to me. Its nice to talk to people and see familar faces that ive seen at home.

If there is one thing I would change it would be a seperate area to sleep {in Inpatients} for people over 65 because found the hospital worrying/ terrifying at times. it would also be nice to have a wash basin in your room.

Dear Apple, thank you for sharing your experience of the community based support, the in-patient intervention and the acute day hospital follow-up you received. I sincerely hope that you are feeling supported and that your health is improving. Admission to hospital is always a frightening thing yet it can provide the structure, security and reassurance a person requires to allow a return to well health to begin. Having a daily medical review may also provide reassurance and allows the team and you to decide together what is working and what isn't. The community mental health nurse, the outreach staff and community occupational therapist further aim to support you following discharge home from hospital, and all liase closely with the wider team. Thank you for high-lighting the benefits of the peer support you experienced whilst attending the acute day hospital. Community based peer support groups are also available, for patients and families and these provide a valuable resourse whilst giving individuals the opportunity to meet other people going through similar difficulties. Your GP, Public Health Nurse or Community Mental Health Nurse would be able to help you with this. Best wishes on your road to recovery and thanks again for your feedback.

Dear Apple, thank you for raising the issue of sleeping arrangements at the Inpatient Admission Unit. As you know this building is very old and does not reflect a modern mental health service. The good news is that a new Admission Unit is being built at Sligo University Hospital and I can confirm work has already started there clearing the ground for the site. This new unit will have individual en-suite bedrooms for inpatients and the Psychiatry of Old Age Team have worked with the Project Team to ensure that patients with the team will be allocated a bedroom in the quietest part of the unit. It is important that people feedback to us the good and the bad so we can make changes to deliver a quality service. Thank you again for your feedback
