"Mental health services Sligo"

About: Sligo Leitrim Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit Sligo/Leitrim Mental Health Services / Sligo Adult Community Mental Health Services

(as a service user),

I am using the mental health service in Sligo and was admitted to the mental hospital. I didn't like the hospital its a very old building that I found quite depressing. I found the staff very friendly and helpful. I am now being treated as an outpatient and I am fairly happy with the help I am getting. I think the waiting list to see a Psychologist is far too long

Hi Man U, thank you for taking the time to post your experience on to the website - it is very helpful to us to know what people think of all aspects of our service. You are right about the Approved Centre - it is an old building. In about 2 years time we will be moving to a purpose build modern facility which will be situated over at Sligo Unversity Hospital. Each person will have their own en suite bedroom and overall the building will be a huge improvement on where we are at present. I will pass on to the staff your compliments about helpfulness and friendliness and I know one of my colleagues will reply to you about the waiting list for Psychology

Regards

I meet with service users and sometimes with their families. I assess psychological problems and provide psychological interventions in an effort to help service users overcome their difficulties.

Dear Man U, thank you for your feedback on the mental health services. If you are on a waiting list to see a psychologist, I would be happy to follow up for you on your behalf to make enquiries about when you can expect to be seen by them? You can email me in confidence directly at Joanne.ohalloran@hse.ie. Or if you prefer, you can ask your key worker to follow up on this issue for you.

Thanks again for taking the time to provide feedback to us.

Kind regards,

Joanne
