"Ovarian Cancer Awareness"

There are many cases of Cancer Diagnosis but the one which is forgotten about is Ovarian Cancer. Ovarian Cancer is hard for gps to detect, symptoms are vague, loss of appetite, constipation bloating. In the past some of these symptoms have been dismissed by general practitioners. There are pink days, Bowel Cancer Screening, Breast Clinics, Prostate Cancer and Cervical Cancer awareness but there is very little done to address Ovarian Cancer. World Ovarian Cancer Day takes place on May 8th. Does the Irish Cancer Society mark this day, the answer is if so not enough.

Ovarian Cancer is also known as The Silent Killer, when diagnosed, it is at an advanced stage. We Ovarian Cancer Patients need a voice for Women out there who may be now suffering vague tummy ache. I have had OC for almost ten years now and thanks to a wonderful Oncologist I am still here. However I feel there is so much inequality of Awareness of Symptoms. I cannot complain about the service and know only too well, the strain the Oncology team, doctors and nurses are under. We need more, doctors and trained Oncology Nurses, we need up to date Chemo Infusion Pumps. We need access to screening for Ovarian Cancer.
