"Unnecessary C-Section"

It was my 4th child but the first 3 were born in the states. The consultant at University Hospital Galway told me at one of my appointments that I would have to have a c section (all my other births were natural) as there was a high risk of shoulder dystocia as the baby was very large. I was distraught and went home and began googling. For one month I fretted over this, discussed it with everyone I could, checked any statistics I could find. I discovered I had more of a chance of dying during childbirth than shoulder dystocia. I went in for my next appointment and told the doctor I would like to try a natural delivery to which she responded "Ok. " My month of upset and agony was dismissed with one word! I went on to have a natural birth but always thought what about women who had no experience or weren't inclined to google. They may have needlessly said yes to a c section when it was completely unnecessary.
