Care Opinion's Chief Executive Paul Hodgkin was invited to present as a key speaker at one of the Mid Staffs Inquiry seminars yesterday.

The seminar was the fifth in a series to gain public and expert comment following the Francis Inquiry on how to prevent and detect problems such as those that occured at Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust between 2005 and 2009.

The E Health Insider reported that internet-based feedback platforms were presented as "a key tool to make sure that patients and the public had an effective and accessible way of making their issues known."

The EHI quote Paul as explaining that feedback on sites like Care Opinion, on social media platforms and from other measures of patient experience will play a major part in ensuring that problems such as those in Mid Staffordshire do not occur in the future.

The hope is that web-based feedback tools such as Care Opinion are supported in the recommendations that the Francis Inquiry is due to release in March of next year.
